Bonfire productions happen every other month (in the “even” months) at the Chico Women’s Club. If selected, you’ll commit to a workshop process with Bonfire Story Coaches in the month leading up to the show, as well as 3 live performances.

 

Bonfire shows are curated with diversity in mind. First and foremost, age diversity. Only one storyteller represents an age decade per show (meaning one person in their 20’s, one person in their 30’s, and so on). We currently do not have storytellers younger than 13 years old.

 

Beyond that, we believe diversity, equity & inclusion are Bonfire’s superpowers! We prioritize making space for underrepresented voices in every show. There’s a place for everyone, but it may take time for your turn to come up. That doesn’t mean your story isn’t important, just that many factors go into shaping each lineup.

 

If you belong to a traditionally marginalized group, feel free to share that with us, but only if you’re comfortable. No need to out yourself on our behalf. This could include race, gender, sexuality, religion, body size, socioeconomic status, disability, or any other identity that has historically faced barriers.

 

You do NOT need to have experience with storytelling, writing or performing. EVERYONE can do this!
